It now seems like the conlang is evolving extremely quickly, and is now more different than Spanish is to Portuguese. This means that given no prior exposure to it, French people may actually have some trouble understanding Hafestra.
It's odd, because in the cultural context of the next few stories, Hafestrian people are pretty much French culturally and in the judicial system. ( They perfected and refined the French Guillotine into a fire arm for example. )
As quick example:
Hafestra: La guillotine coupe nouselles cous.
French: La guillotine coupe nous elle cous.
